Context

Valverde Elementary school, located in southwest Denver, is considered to be a "hard-to-serve" or "title 1" school since 97% of families qualify for free and reduced lunch. There are a total of 22 teachers at Valverde, many of which are bilingual. Instruction is provided in both English and Spanish. The specials teachers (Art, Gym, and Music) are all bilingual.  Because of a recent decline in enrollment, there are only 285 students enrolled compared to 350 students in the 2016-2017 school year.

Unique Learners: 9%
Language Backgrounds: Spanish, Arabic, Somali, Vietnamese, Swahili, and Amharic
